Reflection

May 5, 2016

Working on my archives page and putting the folders together made me realize how fast this year has gone by. It seems like everything happened within two months. It's insane to think about everything that I have learned and all the new people I have meet. But what seems even more absurd is how opportunities kept flowing into my life naturally. To think that my mom got a good job in colorado, we found a good home in the same town I was born in, we choose this high school and I found this new program, all feels like it was meant to be. Somehow I have found exactly where I'm supposed to be and found a perfect way to plan and build my future. This year I have learned my passion for art in many different forms, drawing, painting, sculpting, photography, writing, acting, and dancing. I feel even more complete now that I have found want I love to do. But art isn't the only thing I have found, criminal psychology, a career, a new dream, a place I want to be in my future, and something I want to work towards. I have even found a college I wish to attend. And finding this has given me a goal and has inspired me to pursue each step it will take to get me there.  This year I have found a new passion and a new purpose and that's a lot more than I could say about the last few years I've lived.

Putting up my work on my display page reminded me of all the hard work I did on the Zimbabwe project and how much we got done. During that time, I really learned so much about other parts of the world and how bad things really are for some people. I also gained a lot of skills and got a really good sense of how mosaic runs. The skills I learn had to do with teamwork and stress management as my team and I were working hard to complete deadlines. I got a good sense of how the real world works too because of how our client kept changing his mind on how he wanted things and he wasn't very clear on what exactly he wanted. Which in turn left the rest of us scrambling trying to get things done the way he wanted it and when he wanted it done. Working on my display page also reminded me of the cool new things I learn with photography. I had never really learned how to work a camera or how to take a picture properly so I found that really fun and exciting, just to learn the basics behind photography.

This week has been interesting, being as I have done a lot of reseacher on my inquire question. My iquire question is "Why do humans feel?" and I have focused on the difference between feelings and emotions. I have learned that all feelings and emotions come from nerves. Nerves send signals to the brain and some of these signals are feelings, which is physical sensations, the brain then takes these signals and translates them into emotions, which are the labels we give those sensations. Though there are several different answers and hasn't been determined what is the truth. Yet it has been a interesting question to research. I have also been working on my own project that I have just started. It's a timeline of diseases and I'm going to focus on 10 major disease that hit America since the 1600s. I'm brainstorming on what I want to do and how I to present it. So far I have decided to make a website to display my work. I then made an outline of the website to get an idea of how I want to lay it out. I found 10 deadly diseases, that hit America badly, that I want to research. My next step will be to talk to a teacher about the layout and then get started researching and building the website.
